We recently held a workshop in Leeds covering the assessment and treatment of lower back pain and again the turnout was great. We feel we offer personal time to all out attendees and are delighted by our numbers of new and repeat attendees our workshops are attracting.
During this course we looked at muscles, which are tense and shortened against ones which have become long, weak and inhibited
We examined the effects these patterns of dysfunction have on the functioning position of the pelvis, thus creating a cycle of dysfunctional pain that limits the range of movement, and increases the sensation of fatigue and heaviness.
In this workshop we also looked at mobilising the lumber spine using pain free techniques.
We feel and the response we have had following the workshop that the aims we set out to achieve at the start of the workshop were attained:
- To gain a clearer understanding of assessment procedure
- To investigate the relationship of muscles to Lumbopelvic Balance
- Investigating how muscle energy technique can play an important role in treating people with acute and chronic back pain
- How to incorporate the Hendrickson Method into treating Lower Back Pain
- Mobilisation of the Lumber Spine
- Anatomy review
- Reviewing treatment plan techniques
Also the desired learning outcomes for all attendees were achieved;
Raised anatomical knowledge
Greater confidence in assessment procedure
A clearer process for developing treatment plans
Clarity around muscular imbalance
Increased confidence in muscle energy technique
Further understanding of the Hendrickson Method soft tissue mobilisation
Understand how to mobilise the Lumber spine in a posterior to anterior glide with in the comfort of your patient
Introduction to the Hendrickson Method Workshop
This three day workshop covering the introduction workshop was very popular and Giles Gamble was again fantastically received. Based at the Britannia Hotel in Bramhope,Leedswhich is now the future location for all Hendrickson Method workshops, the three days were educational, diverse and fun.
At the heart of the therapy is Wave Mobilisation, a completely new massage stroke that mimics an ocean wave and has healing effects that penetrate deep within the body.
Giles Gamble, who has worked alongside Tom for the past nine years, presented throughout this three day workshop.
This course was a requirement for anyone intending to take part in the 112 hour training programme with Tom Hendrickson in 2012. This was to ensure all attending the 112 hours will start at a similar skill base.
The aims of the workshop were achieved and this course was 21 CPD hours

- How to apply METs through your treatment
- How to work deeply and gently with the patient′s body
