The course will introduce some of the techniques of joint mobilisation and the principles of articulatory treatment within a therapeutic setting. These techniques have been developed by experienced practitioners and are tried and tested over the last century in practice by various physical therapists.
The weekend is intended to provide a good overview of the fundamentals of mechanical treatments and will give the therapist a good set of basic skills and a routine that can be applied alongside remedial massage and Hendrickson Method.
Aims of the workshop
- Anatomical review with relevance to articulation.
- The physiology of joint mobilisation and the relevance to massage therapy.
- Joint testing and assessment of the body mechanics.
- Exploring safe techniques of articulation for the spine and extremities.
Learning outcomes
- The ability to safely identify joint restrictions.
- Integrating new techniques into a routine applicable to therapeutic massage.
